Junior Membership

The Credit Union has a Junior Savings Scheme, which has been established to encourage young people to save and learn to manage their finances from an early age

There are two ways in which this account may be operated:
  • An adult can open and allow children to operate their own account agreeing on a maximum amount they can withdraw
  • An adult can open and operate the account for the child

On their 16th birthday all junior savers become full members (they will have to complete the adult membership form and bring two forms of ID to the office). They will not be able to access loans, act as guarantors or serve on any committees until aged 18.
Young people are able to make deposits by:

  • Visiting Credit Union offices
  • Through the Trustee in the form of a standing order/payroll deductions/cash
  • PayPoint
An adult may register a young person for Junior membership online by downloading and completing application form. They must then come into the office with identification of young person (birth certificate)as well as themselves (utility bill) and some money to activate account. If adult already a member they will only need ID for young person. Click here (pdf format)
